Baa Atoll’s Eydhafushi triumphed over Addu City in the final game of the Ninety Plus Gold Cup tonight. The final score was 2-0.

The second goal came in the final minute of normal time, as Ali Fasir scored by capitalizing on a through ball.

Eydhafushi had dominated most of the game, but Addu City had fought back in a more balanced second half. The runner-ups ultimately failed to find the net.

Eydhafushi made a total of 16 shots – four on target. Addu City who failed to make a single shot in the first half, made four shots in the second half – three on target. Eydhafushi had possession of the ball for 52% of the game, while Addu had 48% possession.

Mohamed Fasir (Faatte), who scored his seventh goal of the tournament tonight, was awarded MOTM of the final match.

Mohamed Fasir was also awarded the best player in the tournament. The champion team’s goalie Abdullah Ziyazan was awarded best goalkeeper of the tournament.

The tournament’s Golden Boot was awarded to Ibrahim Imran of Dhaalu Meedhoo, and Owusu Kofi of Fuvahmulah City. The two players scored a total of eight goals each.

In the biggest game of 2024, Eydhafushi and Addu City, two of the most decorated names in Maldivian football, represented their locales in front of thousands of fans at Galolhu National Stadium.

With Eydhafushi becoming champions of the first-ever Ninety-Plus Gold Cup, the capital of Baa Atoll has once again lived up to its name as the “Brazil of Maldives”.
