Eagles build on winnning momentum as Gadhdhoo suffers third home defeat

Club Eagles have earned a second win in two games, defeating Gadhdhoo RC.

Club Eagles, who kicked off their DPL campaign by defeating Buru Sports Club, have earned another three points this evening from second-half goals scored by Ismail Eesa and Mohamed Jailam.

Gadhdhoo had lost both their previous games by a margin of two goals as well, first at the hands of New Radiant, and then to TC Sports Club.

The home side held back Eagles for the first half and most of the second half as well, before Eesa broke the deadlock. Receiving back a corner-kick played short, Eesa curled it in from a narrow angle, with the outer edge of his boot.

Gadhdhoo’s frustrating search for an equalizer was thwarted time and time again, and, in the fourth minute of stoppage time, Mohamed Jailam headed it in low and hard as he dived to match with a cross in to the penalty spot. Jailam, who had been with Club Green Streets and served as vice captain till the club relegated, joined Eagles this past transfer window.

Although this was Eagles’ second game of the season, it was Gadhdhoo’s third.

With this evening’s victory, Club Eagles climb third position. They are one of the three teams to reach six points, the other two being Victory Sports Club and New Radiant.
