The Maldives Junior Badminton Team is headed to Manila to compete in the Philippines Junior International Series 2026.
As part of the Badminton World Federation’s Junior circuit, the competition in the Philippines will see over 150 shuttlers from across Asia compete among two age groups – U15 and U19.
The Maldives contingent will have three players compete at the U19 Mens’ Singles: Falaah Faroozan, Izyaan Abdhullah, and Aydhin Anwar. Aminath Amna will be competing in the U19 Women’s singles category.
The three shuttlers competing in the U15 category are Risham Abdhul Faththah, Laiba Ahmed Mahloof, and Yalvee Hussain Zuhury.
All three will compete in their respective singles categories, and Yalvee will partner with Risham for the Mixed Doubles category.
Laiba is set to compete at the U15 Women’s Doubles Category. The 13-year-old will partner up with Indian shuttler Kyra Raina.
For the U19 tournament, Izyan and Falaah wil pair up for the Men’s Doubles category. Two pairs of Maldivian players will compete in the Mixed Doubles – with Izyan and Amna as one pair, and Falah and Laiba as the other.
The Maldivian team will take part in a seven-day training camp before the tournament starts.
The seeding for the tournament will take place this Tuesday. The tournament is scheduled to be held from 4th to 9th August at Gameville Central Park in Manila.
