It took twenty games of Dhivehi Premier League for a game to be drawn for the first time this season, as Victory Sports Club tied 2-2 with defending champions Maziya this evening.

Maziya were the first to concede. Victory scored from a 28th-minute corner kick as center-back Furkatjon escaped his marker to smash it in from the far post.

Maziya ended the first half on the back foot. The closest they came to breaking open the Victory goal was with an Ibrahim Mahudhee header which rattled the crossbar.

Ahmed Aiham and Abdulla Looth had both misfired free kicks in the first half, but the two were the ones to rescue Maziya in the second. Looth fired a volley into the net in the tenth minute of the second half, receiving a cross from Ibrahim Mahudhee.

Looth would go on to win Player Of The Match, having assisted Aiham to give Maziya the lead. Just eight minutes remained when Aiham took on a Victory defender near the D-area and fired low and hard towards the near post.

Aiham celebrates after taking the lead for Maziya. The 22-year-old was named ‘Footballer of the Year’ at the FAM Awards this past Thursday.

Victory were behind for just four minutes, as Al Haji Gero scored on the counter, assisted by Ali Nasooh Rasheed.

After three games, Victory remain on top of the table but are tied on points with New Radiant. The latter had taken on Dhidhdhoo at the same time this evening. The match was the very first home game for Dhidhdhoo. It ended with New Radiant pulling off a last-gasp equalizer against the hosts.

With both Victory and New Radiant drawing their games, Club Eagles now has the chance to claim the top spot in the table. They are on six points with a game in hand over the other two clubs.
