The DPL champions Maziya Sports and Recreation have resumed their unbeaten run, defeating Victory Sports Club 3-0 in this evening’s game.
Two of Maziya’s three goals were delivered with the involvement of Ahmed Aiham. The winger – who was withdrawn from the national team’s squad prior to the game against the Philippines last week – helped Maziya open the scoring in he 37th minute. He delivered the assist from a corner kick for the Spanish forward Sergio Iglesias to head into the net.
Aiham himself scored minutes later – his third of the season and second in the league – teaming up with Hassan Nazeem in the build-up and striking in from inside the box after beating a Victory defender.
The third and final goal was scored by left back Haisham Hassan with an assist from Hassan Naiz. Haisham’s remarkable performance in the game earned him the player of the match award.
Maziya have now earned all possible 24 points from eight games. Two of the other contenders for the top spot – Odi Sports and New Radiant – face each other in tonight’s game.
