Club Green Streets has claimed the first three points of their season, in a five-goal thriller against Club Eagles in last night’s game of Dhivehi Premier League.
Green got a two-goal head start in the first half. The first goal was scored by Iraqi forward Obaida Hamid in the eleventh minute of the game. Green captain Rilwan Waheed widened the lead, striking a long ball from inside the semi-circle.
It was not long before Eagles narrowed the gap, with a goal by their Japanese Midfielder and assisted by Ibrahim Mahudhee Hussain.
The scoreline remained two to one until the 84th minute. Eagles captain Ahmed Rizwan equalized from inside the box, after having escaped the offside trap unmarked to receive a through ball.
It was the Iraqi, Obaida, who yet again gave Green Streets the lead in the dying moments of the game, with a header from close range.
Both Club Green Streets and Club Eagles entered last night’s game having failed to win the previous two games.
Club Green Streets had lost the opening game against Valencia, then against Victory in the second game.
Eagles who were in the title race until the last fixture of the previous season, are now at ninth place after three games – their worst start to a season in a decade. They will have to play against the newcomers Odi Sports coming out of the international break, in the evening of 20th October.
