Addu City defeated Naifaru 7-2 in last night’s final game of Group G in the Ninety Plus Gold Cup.
In a highly contested first half, Naifaru were the ones to take the initial lead, with a goal from Mohamed Izaan. Addu fought back with goals from Ibrahim Waheed and Hazim Fauzy, and Naifaru equalized 2-2 just before half-time with a goal from Hussain Faisal.
The second half saw five more goals, all from Addu City. Ibrahim Waheed went on to complete his hat-trick, scoring four goals in total. Two more from Ibrahim Mahudhee (Feydhoo Ibbe) and Ismail Eesa (Messi) added to the goal advantage as Addu ended the group stage on top of Group G.
Addu City advances to the knockout stages as the group winners in both of the group stages. They are the only team yet to be defeated in the Gold Cup. The southernmost Atoll in the country will take on Lhaviyani Naifaru in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
