Vaanuvaa Clubs Conquers Dhiffushi

Vaanuva Queens and Vaanuva FT are the champions in women’s and men’s tournament in Dhiffushi Council Cup Fiesta 2024.

Vaanuva Queens defeated Victory Vipers in the women’s final by 3-0. Rahma Rushdhee scored two goals and captain Fathmath Shaliya added another, while keeping a clean sheet.

Shaliya won the POTM of the final, top scorer of the tournament, was named among the top 5 players, and won the player of the tournament as well.

In the men’s final, Stelco’s Hussain Rasheed had scored the opener early on in the game, when Vaanuva FT’s Ibrahim Shinaz equalized in the 25th minute. Zain Zafar stepped up to complete the comeback in the 30th minute, then sealing the victory and the title by scoring the third goal for Vaanuva in the final minute of the game.

Zain took home POTM, top scorer and Player of the tournament awards, and was named among the top five, alongside Ali Hafiz, Ahmed Mazin and Ibrahim Aswadh.

Other awards in the men’s tournament: Rishan Rishwan of Vaanuva Juniors was awarded promising player of the tournament. Best goalkeeper award was given to Mohamed Naushad while Hassan Shaffan was named best Coach. Fair play team was awarded to Sathora.

Women’s top five players include Aminath Risala, Aishath Laiba Zahir, Maryam Nizulee and Rahuma Rushdhee alongside Fathmath Shaliya.

All the individual awards from women’s tournament – except for promising player, awarded to Fathmath Laiba Zahir of Victory Vipers – was given to Vaanuva Queens; Hawwa Zaeema as best goal keeper, Fathmath Shaliya as best player and top scorer, and Hassan Shaffan as best coach. The champions are also the fair play team of Dhiffushi.
