Club HDC are the champions of MILO VAM Cup 2024, after defeatimg Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC) in this year’s final.
The final of VAM Cup, played tonight at Maafannu Social Center, saw HDC lose the first set by 20-25. The second set was decided after a back-and-forth climactic end dragged the set way past the 25-point mark, when HDC settled the score of 31-29.
The third set saw the same score-line of the first; 25-20, only it was reversed in favor of HDC. Sifainge Club fought for a comeback and survived, winning the fourth set by 17-25.
The final set – played for fifteen points – saw HDC emerge victorious, but Sifainge Club was so close to the trophy having earned 13 points.
Champion team’s Ismail Sajid was named POTM of the final, as well as the Player of the Tournament. His coach Hussain Shareef won the Best Coach award.
Shamil Mohamed of Police Club was named as the most promising player, and HDC’s Zantimir Zheenbek Uulu won the best foreign player award.

HDC qualified for the final after their semifinal opponents City Sports Club forfeited the game.
City Club refused to show up to the game after a complaint of theirs was ignored by the VAM. The club had filed a complaint regarding the Sifainge Club. Allegedly, the runner-ups were using ineligible players – ones who played for other clubs during the preliminaries.
Dhivehi Sifainge Club had earned their spot in the final having defeated City Club in the semis.
