Club WAMCO and Police Club have faced each other in the women’s division final every year for the past four editions of the VAM Cup.

In all four finals, there has been one winner – Club WAMCO.

Unlike the previous two finals – when WAMCO won it by three sets in succession, Police club had fought back by winning the third set. The final scoreline stood  19-25, 23-25, 25-13, 21-25.

WAMCO had recovered from the slip for the fourth set, which had been the most chaotic of the game – they had gained and lost the lead multiple times throughout the set but came out on top in the end. Club WAMCO struggled to pull off a comfortable win, but the champions have been the better side all night.

WAMCO and Police Club were winners of their respective groups, scoring 9 points and 8 points respectively.

Volleyball Youth New Generation was knocked out by WAMCO in the semifinal but won the third-place playoff match against Association for Dharanboodhoo Development.

Four players from WAMCO; Maajidha, Joozan, Maaya and Faiha, were selected for the tournament’s dream team. Police Clubs’ star players Hawwa and Azuma were chosen for the dream team, alongside Riyasha from Volleyball Youth New Generation.

Player of the Tournament was awarded to Maajidha of Club WAMCO. This is the third year in a row that she has won the award.

The Volleyball Association’s championship, which has been on hold since 2022, started group-stage games of the women’s division on the 8th of July and culminated yesterday the 13th of July. The tournament took place at Maafannu Social Centre.
