More than 600 applications have been submitted for the technical jobs announced by the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).

The financially troubled association last month opened an international platform “Jobs4football”, for 13 technical posts. The deadline for applications for the jobs announced in Jobs for Football is the 13th of next month.

Association believes that the fact that so many, in three weeks, have applied for technical positions is a great response to the efforts being made to promote football.

The caliber of applicants we are talking to on a daily basis speaks volumes about the appeal of aligning with FA Maldives’ ambitious vision,” the FA said in a statement on social media.

Paul Thomas Smalley, technical director of the association, said he was pleased to receive many international offers.

While the FAM announced many positions, the association has been withheld from FIFA’s development funds. The association had a large backlog of unpaid salaries as of last month. However, FIFA paid the FAM $381,000 on condition that it did not spend on anything other than salaries, reducing the huge salary backlog.
