The FAM has announced that the association will hold elections on April 20 after suspending Valencia.
“It is hereby announced that the FAM election will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024,” the association said in a statement following its Executive Committee meeting held yesterday.
At the same time, “applicants for the positions are required to submit their applications to the Association by 14:00 on Saturday, March 16, 2024.”
FAM President Bassam Adheel Jaleel’s various attempts to regain control of Valencia have failed and the club has now been suspended.
The FAM decided to hold the first election in January, Valencia was the main reason for the cancellation. Former FAM President Ahmed Thoriq (Tom) and Eagles Vice Chairman Mufawiz Hashim (Mufa) both, were issued letters of support by Valencia. Thoriq’s candidacy had to be canceled since he did not have support letters from at least three clubs from the first division.
Thorig appealed the candidacy. However, FIFA and AFC stopped the election pending a decision on the issue as the FAM does not have an electoral appeal committee.
