The Maldives National Surfing Team has been selected for the year 2025.

The national surfing team was selected based on league rankings within the previous year. With the final rankings of 2024 published, the selection of next year’s national team has been completed.

The players selected for next year’s national team include three surfers from G.Dh Gadhdhoo, including Ismail Rasheed (Smiley), and Najah Mohamed (Kabo) and the champion of the Rannamaari Challenge, Hoodh Ibrahim (Hoobz). Two surfers from the capital; Ismail Miglaal (Kuda Isse) and 14-year-old Yoosuf Kayan Hamdhan Zaki have also been selected, along with Ahmed Agil of Thulusdhoo.

With Kayan on the squad, 2025 will mark the first time a junior surfer competes with the Maldives national surfing team. Ranked sixth on the league leaderboard, Kayan is also the current runner-up of the Muleekolhu Raalhugandu event. Kayan had also been a semifinalist in the Randhaa Raalhugandu event held in K.Thulushoo, and a quarter-finalist in Kalhegalekoda, G.Dh Gadhdhoo.
