Dhaalu Atoll’s Meedhoo made a last-gasp comeback against Addu City in the Group G game played this evening.
Addu City scored in the sixth minute of the game – the only goal seen in the first half – as newly fielded Ibrahim Mahudhee Hussain scored a high-rise header from a cross by Ismail Eesa.
Eesa resumed the scoring fifteen minutes into the second half, as he comfortably tapped the ball in from close range.
Meedhoo opened Addu’s goal two minutes later, with a penalty kick won and scored by Ibrahim Imran. Imran’s second goal was a long-range ball that dipped into the net’s far corner. Meedhoo who were trailing two goals behind, equalized within five minutes.
Addu regained the lead in the 79th minute with a screamer from Ali Nafiu. The back-and-forth thriller’s climax arrived in stoppage time as Imran completed his second-half hat-trick with a top-bin banger from a freekick. Both teams walked off the pitch with one point in hand.
Group G’s results will be decided after the games of Lhaviyani Naifaru. Meedhoo versus Naifaru is scheduled for Thursday evening, and Addu versus Naifaru will take place on Sunday night.
