FIFA has ordered the postponement of next month’s FAM elections.
FAM Acting General Secretary Mohamed Jaushan Shareef told the media that the election process has been postponed in compliance with FIFA’s directive.
“As part of the dialogue, we are going to put on hold the election process as it is right now as per the request of FIFA and AFC,” Jaushan said in a message to the FAM’s media group.
“FAM assures our members and the public that we will give our fullest cooperation to FIFA and AFC in addressing the concerns.”
“The FAM secretariat will always protect the footballing spirit and its governing principles.”
This is the second notice issued by FIFA in connection with the FAM election. FIFA ordered the cancellation of the January 31 election because the FAM had not formed some committees.
The FAM has not formed committees for four years. This was only discovered when there was no Electoral Appeals Committee when the Electoral Committee decided to cancel the candidacy of Ahmed Thoriq (Tom).
FAM held a congress in February when FIFA ordered the committees to be formed after the election process was suspended.
This time, FIFA has ordered the postponement of the election because Valencia have not been invited to the congress.
