Kendhoo Football Challenge, which usually sees seven teams compete, has now been reduced to four participants.
To kick start the tournament, the Baa Atoll island hosted a charity match this Sunday, in which funds were raised to be donated to Palestine via the NGO International Aid Campaign.
Kendhoo Council’s Vice President Ahmed Azzam stated that the fundraising match is a longstanding tradition – funds raised in the previous years were donated to the island’s school.
The opening match and the the charity game were honored by the presence of coach Mohamed Shaazly, under whose directive the Ninety-Plus Gold Vup was held last year.
Kendhoo had participated in the Gold Cup but were knocked out from the group stage after one draw and two losses.
